Just like many of us, Jake Zyrus has had a handful of regrets in his life. The singer said he could not count the mistakes he has made before.
“There’s so many, parang roller coaster na din po kasi. Sometimes pa iba naisip ko, I regret being discovered as Charice. Or minsan I wish na-discover na ito na ako para hindi ako nahihirapan,” he opened up in a report from Pilipino Star Ngayon.
Nevertheless, the 28-year-old said his past regrets turned into something beautiful.
“So many regrets, siguro po noong hindi ko pa nare-realize na yung regrets na yon will turn into something beautiful,” he said.
“Kasi di ba sometimes in our life parang masasabi mo na, ‘I regret doing this?’ But siyempre the more na marami akong na-experience sa buhay ko, the more na-realize ko na those regrets happened dahil doon ko rin na-realize kung ano ba ako, kung sino ba ako, kung ano ang magagawa ko in the future,” he explained.
Jake made his name as a singer in various countries — including the US where he appeared in TV shows like Oprah and Glee — when he was Charice Pempengco.
Despite his many regrets, he said he is happy now.
“Hindi ko rin madi-discover kung ano ako ngayon if I didn’t go with this process. Hindi man beautiful ang tingin ng tao sa nangyayari sa akin ngayon, but to me it turned me into someting beautiful, dahil nalaman ko rin ang mga taong totoo sa akin,” he said.
Jake came out as a lesbian in 2013. He announced on Instagram that he identifies as a transgender man in 2017.
