‘Ang bobo’: Lauren Young slams DJ Loonyo’s face mask claims

-

Kapuso actress Lauren Young didn’t mince words in criticizing DJ Loonyo’s statement on using face masks for a long period of time amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

DJ Loonyo previously received flak for his false claims about COVID-19 mass testing during a livestream discussion with his friends.

The internet dancing sensation afterwards apologized for his “wrong use of terminology” when he described mass testing as a “trial and error” process that “shouldn’t be mandatory, but it should be encouraged.”

He said he was actually referring to “clinical trials” for COVID-19 vaccines and not the actual coronavirus testing.

Another clip of DJ Loonyo airing his thoughts on using face masks for a long period of time, however, also irked netizens.

A video clip shared by a certain Nico David, which was taken from the same online discussion DJ Loonyo figured in, went viral anew and has since amassed one million views on Facebook and Twitter already.

In the video, DJ Loonyo claimed that wearing face masks for a long period of time is like inhaling poison which “makes the immune system weak”.

“Sang-ayon ako doon na the more you wear the mask na nakaganoon parati, kumbaga ini-inhale mo yung sarili mong utot,” he said.

“Kaya mo nga nilalabas ’yon eh. Kaya mo nga nilalabas ’yon kasi hindi kailangan ng katawan mo ’yon. Kailangan mo ng oxygen,” he explained.

He continued, “Ngayon, ang iniinhale mo, yung parang ano ’yung poison ’yung iniinhale mo sa katawan mo, and it makes your immune system weak.”

The Tiktok star also pointed out that he is not against the practice of wearing a face mask but suggested limiting the use of it.

“We’re not against the mask. We are saying na sa haba ng panahon na kakasuot mo ng mask, iniinhale mo ’yung sarili mong utot. So, if I were you, ibaba mo siya, or ipapahinga mo ’yung sarili mo. Uminhale ka ng tama. Hindi tayo against sa mask. Ang sa atin lang, ire-reduce mo lang ’yong kaka-wear mo ng kaka-wear kasi iniinhale mo ’yong sarili mong utot,” he said.

DJ Loonyo’s thoughts didn’t sit well with the online community, including Lauren who retweeted the video on and chided him, “Omg i just saw this!! Ang bobo sh*t ang bobo. Flatearther ka rin ba koyah??”

Lauren also believes that DJ Loonyo “really just wants to sound smart but lacks the patience to sit, read and understand.”

“Gusto lang magkaroon ng opinion for the sake of it? Mapakita lang yung bigd*ckenergy. Like LOOK AT ME IM SMART,” she said.

In another tweet, Lauren said that asking questions about things you have little knowledge of is a good way of getting yourself informed.

“Easy lang naman eh, if you don’t know or aren’t sure about what you’re talking about then simply ask! There’s no harm in asking, if anything mas maiinform ka pa nga eh.”

She added, “Only a person with a huge ego would be scared to ask. You’re taking the opportunity to learn away from yourself!”

Netizens, meanwhile, had mixed reactions on Lauren’s comment with some, especially the fans of DJ Loonyo, coming to his defense.

Lauren, on the other hand, did not back out and hit back at the bashers.

DJ Loonyo has yet to respond to the actress’ tirade against him.
