New Zealand based poet and novelist Lang Leav took a spot in Twitter Philippines’ top trending list after netizens reacted to her response to a Filipino netizen’s joke online.
It all started with a viral tweet that said, “Lang Leav found jobless.” The post was accompanied with a screenshot from a delivery rider informing the netizen that his parcel will arrive soon.
As of writing, the viral tweet has collected 3k retweets and 28.8k likes on the platform.
The tweet found its way to the writer and she responded: “Lang Leav found jobless after selling millions of books ?.”
Pinoy netizens immediately reacted to her tweet, telling her it was only a joke.
“Joke kasi yun nakatira ka ba sa kweba?” a Twitter user asked.
While others commented on how she has sold millions of books already but she can’t take a joke.
Early today, “Lang Leav” sat at the 10th spot of Twitter Philippines’ top trending list.
The international best-selling author is known to have a Filipino following that she was brought to the country at least four times — latest was in 2019 — for book tours.
After the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, Lang took to social media to ask her followers to donate to the Philippine Red Cross’ relief operations for the victims of the typhoon.
“I have visited the Philippines on many occasions and each time I’ve been shown such warmth and kindness. If you’re in a position to help, please do,” she said.
