BINI’s Jhoanna and Gwen graduate from senior high school with special citation, leadership awards

Members of P-pop girl group BINI, Jhoanna and Gwen, proved themselves as true “multi-tasking queens” as they celebrated recent milestones by graduating from senior high school.

On Wednesday, May 8, the two members, together with their family members, received their diplomas after succesfully completing the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand from the Japanese-Philippines Institute of Technologies, Training and Services Inc. (JPIT).

Their fellow members Maloi and Colet also graduated from the same school the previous year.

Both Jhoanna and Gwen were also awarded the “Youth Leadership Excellence Award” and “special citations” for their contributions in the fields of “Arts, Media, and Entertainment”.

“We’re very happy po and proud of ourselves, kasi bia po talaga ‘yung pagod at sacrifice,” said Gwen in an interview with ABS-CBN. “Thank you Lord, natapos po namin.”

Jhoanna echoed the sentiment and shared her excitement for the next chapter, saying, “Excited na rin po ako for college. Seeing our schedule, parang ang hirap po sa schedule, kasi ayaw naman po namin na mag-aral for the sake of aral. Gusto po namin, may matututunan talaga.”

Jhoanna, who has long been vocal about her interest in becoming a broadcast journalist, revealed that she is eyeing a mass communications course in college.

“Pero parang nagdadalawang-isip po ako, kung magbi-business din po. Medyo nahahati din po ‘yung decision ko,” she added.

Meanwhile, Gwen shared that she plans to pursue interior design, a course aligned with her personal interests.

Despite their demanding schedules as performers, both emphasized the importance of finishing their education—not just for themselves but also for their families.

“Itong meron kami ngayon, hindi naman ‘to forever,” said Jhoanna. “So mahalaga na may Plan B kami, may pupuntahan kami, ano man ang mangyari sa career namin.”

“Fulfilling din po siya for our parents po kasi eto naman yung goal nila,” the leader of the group added. “Masaya sila na naging artist kami, naabot namin yung pangarap pero greatest dream talaga nila for us makapagtapos ng pag-aaral.”

Gwen added, “Dream po ito ng parent and me po, super fulfilling. Saka iba pa rin po talaga kapag naka-graduate ka.”

BINI previously performed alongside other Filipino artists at the Aurora Music Festival in Clark, Pampanga.

After successfully kicking off its “Grand BINIverse” show at the Philippine Arena last February, the octet is now preparing for the international stops which will begin in Dubai this May 18 and continuing to London on May 25. The group will then head to multiple cities across the United States through May and June, before concluding the tour in Canada.
