The hit musical series “Glee” is reportedly making a comeback, with a reboot in development at 20th Television for streaming platforms Hulu and Disney+.
The award-winning musical dramedy is officially returning on our screens, along with familiar faces, as some of the original cast members are expected to reprise their roles in the beloved series.
Among those reportedly set to return for their roles is Lea Michele, who portrayed the iconic Rachel Berry in the original series.
Heather Morris, who played cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce, and Chord Overstreet, who portrayed Sam Evans, have also fueled speculation about their possible return through recent social media posts.
“Yes, ladies and gentlemen of women, rumors are true. Brittany S. Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well… And back for more,” Morris wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her character.
Meanwhile, Overstreet shared his excitement on X, posting, “Reunited and it feels so good!”
Alongside Michele, Morris, and Overstreet, the show featured an ensemble cast that included Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum Jr., and Mark Salling, among others.
“Glee” originally ran for six seasons, premiering in May 2009 and concluding in March 2015. The series received multiple awards throughout its run, earning six wins at the Emmys across 32 nominations, and won Best Comedy/Musical Series twice at the Golden Globes.
The series follows a group of high school students who join New Directions, a glee club led by an optimistic Spanish teacher, as they navigate the challenges and harsh realities of life.
It also became known for its covers of popular songs, including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Somewhere Only We Know,” “Valerie,” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
Further details about the reboot, including its cast and release date, have yet to be announced.
