Actor and Ormoc city mayor Richard Gomez made headlines last week when a photo of his “suggestive” painting drew criticism online.
His painting of the male genitalia was part of this year’s ManilArt exhibition. Its price was a whopping P196,000.
“Tama lang ‘yon, ganon talaga ang art dapat nae-evoke ang emotions mo,” Richard told Boy Abunda in his Pilipino Star Ngayon column. He added that his painting is considered normal.
“Kapag gumagawa ka ng art at di naapektuhan ang emotions mo, hindi exciting. Marami talagang ganon. Those artists don’t know what art is all about,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Richard is already preparing for his wife Lucy Torres’ 45th birthday on December 11.
“I’m more of a… maayos na planning. Siguro tatanungin ko siya (Juliana, their daughter) kung ano ang gusto niya para sa mommy niya. Lately, busy si Juliana sa school, hindi namin siya nakikita. Siguro siya ang tatanungin ko para sa birthday ng mommy niya,” he said.
