After witnessing the opening of Manila Bay’s “white sand beach” last month, the viral swimsuit woman was among the first tourists to visit Boracay’s world-famous white sand beach on its reopening.
Renalyn Macato went viral after she gamely donned a one-piece red bathing suit when she went to see Manila Bay’s much-talked-about artificial sand made of crushed dolomite.
Just a day after Boracay was reopened to tourists from general community quarantine (GCQ) areas, Renalyn was already on her way to the island.
She told the STAR’s LatestChika that while her quick vacation was more relaxing since only a few tourists were there, the protocols for travelling were strict and expensive.
Based on her experience, the Boracay island community is ready and excited to welcome back tourists, with hotel accommodations now on promo rates. But she cautioned that it’s going to be a longer process.
“Ang higpit ng going to (Boracay) and magastos dahil sa swab (test). P5,500 po yung sa amin,” she said.
In earlier reports, the Boracay Interagency Task Force (BIATF) led by Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu said a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-CPR) result 48 to 72 hours prior to travelling to the island is required.
Renalyn said she was able to travel to Aklan because her employer Bernard Bayog is a travel bug.
Despite encountering many criticisms for her viral beach photos, Renalyn said she pays no mind to her bashers.
“Good vibes lang! Pati ‘wag mapag-husga kasi di naman nila ako kilala,” she said.
Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat said in an interview with ANC’s Headstart that from the 35 tourists who visited Boracay, only seven came from Metro Manila.
