Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao becomes the first Filipino male celebrity to have his own Madame Tussauds wax figure.
After Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, the senator is set to be immortalized at the international wax museum chain’s flagship attraction in Asia, the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Madame Tussauds made the big reveal on its Instagram account on Tuesday — Pacquiao’s birthday.
“What better way to welcome the Pinoy boxing champ’s birthday than with a wax figure reveal! Yes, Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao (@mannypacquiao) is the newest addition to our pool of Filipino wax figures in @madametussaudshongkong,” wrote Madame Tussauds Hong Kong in its caption.
“Get ready to go face-to-face with Manny Pacquaio’s wax figure this 2020! Stay tuned for more updates!” it added.
In a separate post, the museum shared a clip of the Madame Tussauds staff working on the star athlete’s specific measurements, skin tone, down to the smallest details to ensure that the wax figure will look identical to Pacman.
The boxing champ, on the other hand, shared his excitement on being picked as the next Filipino icon to be immortalized in the famous museum.
“I’m very honored that they chose me. Masaya ako na maitataas ko muli ang bandera ng Pilipinas sa ganitong paraan. I’m glad I’ll be able to bring pride to the Filipinos this way,” he said.
We’ll be seeing double of the legendary boxer next year.
