Cebuano actor Matteo Guidicelli and his wife Sarah Geronimo gave a special message for Cebu amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Matteo started out the video message by introducing the pop star, whom he married in February, as a “brand-new Cebuana, my wife.”
He then went on to tell his fellow Cebuanos that they were compelled to make the message after learning of the rise in COVID-19 numbers in Cebu.
“Ganahan ra mi mohatag ug mensahe ninyong tanan. Nakita namo inyong numbers sa COVID-19, nagsaka na (We just want to send you a message. We saw the COVID-19 numbers rising already in Cebu). So we’re praying for each and everyone of you, guys, to please stay safe,” Matteo said.
“At sa inyong tanan, paminaw mo sa inyong gobyerno. Kung lockdown, lockdown. Diha lang mo sa balay, palihug lang. (To all of you, listen to your government leaders. If lockdown, then it means lockdown. Stay home home, please). Please keep yourselves safe. Wash your hands all the time. Please practice social dancing para di na mo saka ang numbers sa COVID-19 diha, palihug lang. (So that the numbers will no longer increase there, please).”
Sarah also gave her own message, “Please po, let’s do our part to fight COVID-19 by staying home.”
“Yun lang po at ayo-ayo mong tanan!” she added, saying “take care” in the Cebuano language and making her husband smile.
“Kabaw na ug Bisaya si Mahal o. (My love knows how to speak Cebuano now),” Matteo proudly said.
“Mga Cebuano, mga Bisaya, God bless mong tanan. Palihug lang, diha lang ta sa balay para mahuman na ning COVID-19. Ayo-ayo! (Cebuanos, fellow Bisayans, God bless you all. Please remain in your homes so that this COVID-19 situation will end. Take care!)” the actor-athlete ended.
The Cebu province recorded seven new positive cases as of April 18, bringing the total to 179 positive cases, The Freeman reported.
Twenty patients have already recovered and eight have passed away.
