Ogie Diaz surprised his daughter Erin with a one-million-peso cash gift as she celebrated her 25th birthday, while being single and childless at her age.
The showbiz personality not only wowed Erin but also netizens online with his sweet surprise, which was featured in her birthday vlog, titled “PINAIYAK AKO SA BIRTHDAY KO!”, and uploaded to her YouTube channel on Sept. 2.
In the video, Ogie explained that he wanted his daughter to enjoy her youth before settling down and having children after handing her the cash gift.
“25 na kasi siya. Sabi ko walang asawa, walang anak at 25. Kasi gusto ko i-enjoy nila ’yung kanilang kabataan,” the talk show host said.
“Mahirap pag nag-asawa, nakipag-live-in, tapos magkakaanak tapos iiwan mo ’yung anak mo sa amin tapos gigimik-gimik ka kaya i-enjoy mo muna,” he added.
Diaz also revealed that he made the same promise to his other children, to which Godhie, Erin’s younger sister, jokingly pointed out that she only has three more years before she turns 25 and potentially receives the same amount.
Ogie has five children with his partner, Georgette del Rosario.
Meanwhile, Erin expressed her gratitude for the people who celebrated her birthday.
“Turning 25 with the people I’m closest to, the ones who have molded me, supported me, and will forever hold a special place in my heart,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Thank you po sa lahat ng bumati at nakaalala ng birthday ko! 🥹💖 And of course, sa lahat ng nagbigay ng gifts, hehehe 🙈,” she added.
