TWICE member Sana is set to make her acting debut, taking on her first film role opposite Japanese actor Takeru Satoh.
JYP Entertainment confirmed reports that the Japanese idol will star in the upcoming film Nyangi (working title), marking her first-ever acting project more than a decade after debuting with TWICE.
She becomes the latest member of the nine-member girl group to venture into acting, following Jeongyeon and Dahyun, who have also pursued projects outside of music.
According to Korean media reports, Nyangi is a joint Korea-Japan production, with Sana cast as the female lead opposite Satoh, who will play the male lead.
Filming is reportedly scheduled to begin in Japan during the second half of the year. Although production will take place in Japan, the film will reportedly be led entirely by a Korean crew as part of the cross-border collaboration.
The announcement comes after TWICE wrapped up its “THIS IS FOR” world tour, which concluded with a three-night finale at Seoul’s KSPO DOME from July 10 to 12.
