A match made in K-drama heaven!

IU and Byeon Woo Seok are set to lead the cast of an upcoming romantic K-drama series set in a fictional version of South Korea.

On an April 21 report by Soompi, Korean TV channel MBC officially confirmed the production and broadcast of the drama with the working title “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” along with its star-studded cast.

Joining IU—fresh off her acclaimed performance in the hit Netflix series “When Life Gives You Tangerines”—and Byeon Woo Seok, widely recognized for his roles in “Lovely Runner” and “20th Century Girl”, are model-actor Noh Sang Hyun and actress Gong Seung Yeon, who is also known as the sister of TWICE’s Jeongyeon.

Set in a fictional version of Korea where a constitutional monarchy still exists, Wife of a 21st Century Prince will follow the unlikely romance between Sung Hee Joo (IU), a powerful heiress with wealth and influence but no royal title, and Lee Wan (Byeon Woo Seok), a modern-day prince who lacks power despite being the king’s son.

The drama will be directed by Park Joon Hwa, renowned for his work on popular series such as “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim”, “Alchemy of Souls”, and the “Let’s Eat” franchise.

It is reportedly slated to premiere in 2026.
