Dennis Padilla would like to show up and see daughter Julia Barretto get married to the love of her life even if he wouldn’t receive a wedding invitation.
These are thoughts of the celebrity dad and comedian during an interview on Ogie Diaz’s Youtube channel when asked what he would do should the time come when Gerald Anderson proposes to his daughter.
Before anything else, Dennis said he’d like for Gerald to have a conversation with him first, even with the existing rift with his daughter with ex-wife Marjorie Barretto.
“Kung gusto talaga ako ni Gerald na kausapin dapat kinausap na niya ako eh hanggang ngayon hindi niya ako kinakausap eh,” Dennis said, claiming the actor repeatedly dodged chances of reaching out to him.
“Siguro mas importante sa kanya na good shot siya kay Marjorie pero sa’kin kahit bad shot siya ok lang sa kanya. ‘Yun ang pakiramdam ko,” said Dennis.
“Kung ayaw niya akong makausap wala na akong magagawa ako. Ako gusto ko siya makausap pero kung ayaw niya ayoko na,” the actor-comedian expressed his frustration over his daughter’s beau.
On what he wishes to tell Gerald: “Ipapaala ko lang sa’yo na yang girlfriend mo, anak ko ‘yan. Hindi lang si Marjorie gumawa diyan”.
“Baka natakot siguro, hindi siya (Gerald) takot sa akin. Baka natatakot siya kay Jullia tsaka kay Marjorie. Baka ‘pag kinausap ako magalit sa kanya yung dalawa.
“Ikamamatay mo ba ‘yun pag sinita ka ni Marjorie at sinita ka ni Julia? Ang ibig sabihin mo pag kinausap mo ako hiwalayan ka ni Julia?
Dennis added that if he were in Gerald’s shoes, he would still make the effort to talk to his girlfriend’s dad “out of respect”.
He is hoping would eventually patch things with his children in the future. But if he ever ends up being uninvited to his daughter’s wedding, he will still show up to witness her daughter on her big day to pay his “respect”.
“Kahit di naman nila ako i-invite, pupunta ako. Pero hindi ako pupunta dun para manggulo. Pupunta ako dun para mapanood ‘ang anak ,kahit hindi ako yung maghatid.Masakit ‘yun pero gusto ko makitang ikasal yung anak ko. Anak ko ‘yun eh,” said Dennis.
Julia and Gerald publicly revealed their romancein 2021. Throughout their relationship, the actress has been vocal about getting married in her late 20’s. She turned 26 years old last March.
