Filipino-Canadian actor Patrick Guzman, who was popular in the ’90s as a matinee idol, has passed away. He was 55.

According to veteran entertainment columnist Aster Amoyo, Patrick who starred in such films as Chick Boy, Sa Piling ng Iba, and Una Kang Naging Akin, died of a heart attack on Saturday morning.

“My heartfelt condolences and prayers to the bereaved family of actor Patrick Guzman who died of heart attack this morning (Manila time) in Toronto, Canada,” read Amoyo’s Facebook post

The late actor is survived by his wife and 15-year-old son, as reported by Pep.

Patrick’s former co-stars and colleagues have since paid tribute to the actor on social media.

Sharing a throwback photo of him with Patrick and Mama’s Boys 2 co-stars Michael V and Anjo Yllana, Ogie Alcasid talked about treasuring the “wonderful times” they had in filming movies together.

“So shocked and sad that you have gone to heaven so suddenly. Rest now brother,” Ogie wrote in a now-deleted post.

Beverly Vergel, meanwhile, reminisced the time when Patrick easily said “yes” to a project she wrote and directed.

“I’ll never forget how happy you were at doing a comedy workshop. You enjoyed the funny and silly exercises despite the whole body workout. It was one full day of laughter. I will forever cherish those memories.

“I know the entire cast and crew will surely miss you!!! You are our very own and Canada’s PAPA P!!!,” wrote Beverly in Facebook post alongside photos of Patrick.

Actress-singer Rachel Alejandro also sent her condolences to the bereaved family following Patrick’s passing.
