Valerie Concepcion couldn’t help but shed tears as she talked about the time her daughter Heather started looking for her father.
The 35-year-old actress turned emotional during her guesting on Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk when asked about the thing she wanted to ask forgiveness from her daughter.
“Mag-so-sorry ako kasi she’s 18 now and may time na hinahanap niya ‘yung tatay niya, so siguro ang iso-sorry ko is ‘yung hindi ko nabigay sa kaniya ‘yung normal na family,” revealed Valerie.
Valerie said she’s trying hard to juggle the role of being both a mom and a dad to her daughter who grew up with no father.
Heather is Valerie’s child with former boyfriend Jeremy Carag. She gave birth to her when she was 16 years old.
“Actually it pains me nung nalaman ko na hinanap niya ‘yung tatay niya kasi parang feeling ko hindi ako enough, hindi ko nabigay ‘yung lahat para hanapin pa niya ‘yung tatay niya,” Valerie admitted in tears.
She furthered, “But now I understand. Of course, it doesn’t make her love me less just because she is looking for her father. She just really wants to know where she came from, her roots, and her story so now I understand that.”
Valerie went on to say that she was apologizing on behalf of Heather’s father who didn’t get to respond when they tried reaching out to him.
“Magso-sorry lang din ako sa anak ko na ganun ‘yung tatay niya because we tried reaching out, I tried telling him na, ‘Our daughter is ready to meet you,’ but I didn’t get a response sadly.”
Despite the circumstances, Valerie said she’d always tell her daughter not to have ill feelings towards her father.
“I always tell her, ‘Don’t be mad at your dad, because no matter what happens, bali-baliktarin mo mundo, tatay mo ‘yan. You have to respect.’
“But of course, ‘di mawawala sa bata na nasaktan siya, na-disappoint sya,” said Valerie.
Valerie shared in the same interview that she wanted to get married at the age of 23 for Heather to have a father figure.
Valerie is now married to non-showbiz husband Francis Sunga whom she is expecting her second child with.
The two met through common friends in 2017 and tied the knot in 2019.
