Actor Wowie De Guzman figured in a road accident after reportedly falling asleep while driving along Maharlika Highway in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas, early Tuesday morning, Oct. 13.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Barangay San Bartolome, where the actor’s vehicle crashed into the highway’s center concrete barrier.
Sto. Tomas City police chief Lt. Col. Marlon Cabataña said Wowie admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit the barrier.
The car’s airbag deployed upon impact, helping prevent more serious injuries. However, De Guzman sustained bruising on his thigh, while his two companions, identified as Paulo Cabanero and Gerardo Oliva, were unharmed.
The actor and his companions were reportedly returning to Manila after attending a show in Guinayangan, Quezon province.
Later that day, De Guzman took to Facebook to reassure his followers that he was doing well following the incident.
“Fyi guys… relax po.Thankfully ok po ako. Walang serious injury. I’m 100% ok. Kayang-kaya na mag-warm up mamaya. Kagigising lang now dito sa Pampanga,” he wrote.
