Mico Rja Rala hadn’t seen his family in Cavite since 2020 after he was assigned in Kalibo, Aklan.
When his company approved his study leave, he immediately booked a flight to surprise his mother.
Mico pretended to be a customer in his mother’s workplace at a government hospital. She didn’t not recognize him at first. But when Mico revealed his identity, she immediately ran to her son and gave him a hug!
“Gulat na gulat nga po si mama kasi wala talaga siyang alam na darating ako kasi ang alam niya, nagpoporocess pa ako ng requirements para sa filing ng board exam.Hindi niya lubos maisip na ako na pala ‘yun. Kahit ka officemate niya nagulat din sa reaction ng mama ko ng marinig ang malakas na sigaw. Priceless po ang higpit ng yakap ng ina na sobrang namiss ang anak dahil nasa malayo at nag iisa,” he narrated.
Mico said he really wanted to surprise his mother Lalaine at work to see her reaction.
“Tinanong ko ‘yung mga kapatid ko if duty ba si mama so that I can book a ticket na pasok sa duty niya its becuase gusto ko talaga siya I-surprise sa work niya,” he said.
The heartwarming moment was recorded by his youngest sibling. Mico described his mom as a “hero” for singlehandedly raising all of her children.
Mico and three of his siblings finished nursing while their youngest sibling is a medtech student.
Mico said reuniting with his mother after three years of being apart was the “best feeling.” He also expressed gratitude to his employers for allowing him to take a study leave. He plans to stay with his family while reviewing for the nursing board exam.
“Deserved niya kahit malayo man kmi sa simpleng surprise visit ko sa kanya after all this pandemic ay laking gulat talaga niya. Ngayon po ay napakasaya ng bawat araw na magkasama kmi lahat kumpleto hindi katulad ng dati na kulang malayo sa isa’t isa after po ng exam ay babalik na po ako sa probinsya gawa ng aking trabaho,” he said.
