Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto is hoping that the COVID-19 pandemic would soon be over to grant this request of his constituents.
A report by ABS-CBN said Vico recently visited residents and supporters in Barangay Rosario where some asked him, “Mayor, pa-kiss.”
The 32-year-old politician responded with humor, quipping that he would allow kisses once the pandemic is over.
“Pasensya na po, bawal pa ang kiss. Ipagdasal po natin na matapos na ang pandemiya na ito,” the mayor said in a video posted by ABS-CBN journalist Kat Domingo on Twitter.
He added in jest, “Ako hindi ako mahilig mangako. Kahit balikan niyo po yung sinasabi ko noong kampanya noong 2019, kahit 2016 hindi ninyo ako maririnig na nangangako. Pero pangako ko po sa inyo, pagkatapos ng pandemiya, kahit mag-kiss po tayo puwedeng-puwede.”
His response then sent the crowd cheering and clapping.
Vico is seeking re-election and vying for his second term as the head of the city.
As of Monday, November 8, Pasig City has a total of 137 active COVID-19 cases.
