Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has been discharged from the hospital for home quarantine to continue his recovery from COVID-19.
Bong’s wife, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado, said in a Facebook post, “Salamat Lord at nakaraos-raos na rin po ako sa mga personal na pagsubok. Two sa aking mahal sa buhay ay negative na sa kanilang test results sa Covid-19. Ngayon ay naka-home quarantine na si Sen. Bong Revilla. Parang gusto kong maiyak sa tuwa. Salamat po sa lahat ng kanyang doctors, nurses at sa lahat ng mga nagdasal. Glory to God!!! We ❤️ you!!!”
The actor-turned-lawmaker earlier updated his followers that he was beating COVID-19 after responding well to medication and treatment versus the virus.
In his latest post, he announced that he was excited to go home after doctors cleared him for discharge. “Hindi pa po tapos ang aking pagpapagaling, but they said I am strong and well enough to continue treatment at home.”
Meanwhile, Bong also gave a lengthy reply to a question in the comments section on what he plans to do differently on his “second lease on life”.
He began that he doesn’t think his recovery from COVID-19 is a second lease on life.
He continued: “Everyday is a new lease. All we can aspire for is to be a better person when we go to bed at night than who we were when we woke up.
“However, if there’s one thing I realized, life is precious. I got to treasure more what I have in life — my wife, my kids, and everything that I have.
“I have been through a lot. There was a time na pinalibutan yung bahay ko ng 200 armadong pulis dahil sa pulitika. We were foxholed for a week! Also, when I was in Quezon personally doing rescue and relief operations, muntikan pa kami mamatay dahil sa landslide and rockslides. May kasama kami na katabing katabi ko pa mismo na nagulungan ng malaking boulder at kinailangan i-airlift paalis. We in turn were trapped there for almost a week. Hindi lang side A at side B sa mga damit, and we were literally eating on corpses’ tables whatever was available.
“Then dun sa hostage-taking in 2007 when I boarded a bus held hostage by 2 fully armed men para mailabas yung mga bata na hostages. Muntik na rin nun because the hostage takers were becoming agitated and the police was running out of patience. Idagdag mo pa jan ang pagkakulong ko ng halos limang taon.
“Life has really been tough, but God has blessed me greatly.
“What will I do differently? None. I just need to live life to the fullest I can, be in service to our kababayans, maximize all that I need to do. God has given me this life — I have surrendered it all to Him. I lay it all to God.”
Last August 18, the senator was rushed to an undisclosed hospital after developing pneumonia due to COVID-19.
