From enormous hairdos, over-the-top makeup, to flamboyant gowns, local celebrities really went all out for a night of debauchery last Thursday, October 31, at Solaire Resorts and Casino in Parañaque City.
Dubbed Opulence: Let Them Eat Cake, TV host and actor Raymond Gutierrez along with event specialist/interior designer Ashleigh Rye and event planner La Belle Fete, organized a one-night party that “Manila has never seen before.”
The themed party is inspired by Marie Antoinette — France’s queen before the French Revolution. Aside from being famed for her taste in fashion, she is also known for being overthrown by French revolutionaries and guillotined in public.
The “Let them eat cake” is a translation of the French phrase “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche,” supposedly uttered by Marie Antoinette upon being told that the peasants had no bread to eat.
