This man from Marikina City did not think twice to sell his toy collection to help his girlfriend who was diagnosed with stage 4 endometrial cancer.
“Medyo mabigat. Ang inisip ko na lang siguro kaya ako binigyan ni God ng pera para bumili siguro meron ‘yung purpose sa life ko talaga hindi lang for enjoyment. Naisip ko na lang it’s for her naman and ‘yung pag galing niya naman siguro pwede bumili ulit,” Jefferson Pante Gonzales shared with The Philippine STAR dring an interview.
“I decided na na ‘yung mga iba ibenta ko na talaga kasi pandagdag po sa bills niya. As of now talaga ang focus ko lang po talaga kahit ano, kung lahat po kailangan ko ibenta okay lang sa’kin,” he added.
In 2018, Jessa Paminiano was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). But Jefferson noted that Jessa was strong and healthy when they met in a dating app in 2020.
“So far, for the first two years na magkakilala kami okay naman. And then nung 2022 may nakita sa uterus niya. Nitong January lang po biglang lumala ‘yung pakiramdam niya,” he noted.
Jessa first experienced extreme pain in her stomach on January 15, 2023 and was rushed to the emergency room.
“Ang first diagnosis is liver cirrhosis. Parang namamaga daw po ‘yung liver niya so ang sabi ng mga doctors and nurses dun sa ER, parang it’s weird kasi bata ka pa,” said Jefferson.
After a few days, she decided to go back to the hospital for confinement. When the lab results came back, the doctor confirmed that she has a stage 4 endometrial cancer.
“Siguro nung araw na ‘yun na paguwi niya iniyak ko na lahat kasi ayokong ipakita sa kanya na mahina ako. Eh kasi alam ko one ako sa mga inaasahan niya malakas,” he said with teary eyes.
Jessa’s medical bills reached more than P300,000. Jefferson said he’s thankful to those generous individuals who bought her collection.
“Pero ang nangyari kasi halos triple ‘yung na nakuha ko na donations. Then meron kasing mga groups, ‘yung mga Funko, mga Gundam, ang daming nakakita tapos pinost nila doon,” he stressed.
“Nakakatouch lang na ang dami talagang tumulong so parang faith in humanity restored. Sobrang thank you po sa mga nag-donate, sa mga bumili,” he added.
Jessa said she will continue to fight the disease. “I’ll get through this, so fighting lang! Sabi ko nga po dito bawal umiyak pinapauwi ko po.”
