Kris Aquino has defended her eldest son, Josh Aquino, after a controversial episode of comedy podcast Machong Chismisan drew widespread backlash for its offensive remarks about him.
In an Instagram post, the Queen of All Media explained why she chose not to directly address the controversy, saying she had learned not to give attention to people whose remarks did not deserve it. However, she made it clear that she would not let the issue overshadow the love and care Josh gives her.
Kris shared that Josh, who is on the autism spectrum, stays by her side during their afternoon naps and lovingly offers his shoulder for her to rest on as she continues to battle health challenges.
“Monday to Friday kuya Josh does his share to take care of his mama,” she wrote, highlighting her son’s quiet but meaningful role in their home.
The controversy erupted following the podcast’s October 5 episode, “Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino,” in which the hosts made disparaging comments about Josh, including calling him “walang kwenta” compared with his younger brother, Bimby.
The remarks prompted widespread backlash, with The Pod Network terminating its contract with the show and removing it from its platform. The hosts also issued a public apology, while authorities initiated scrutiny over the incident.
Despite her ongoing health struggles, Kris expressed gratitude to those who have supported her family and reaffirmed her determination to keep fighting for her sons.
“Ang mama nila hindi pa pwedeng isuko ang laban,” she said, emphasizing that she still needs to be there for Josh and Bimby.
Meanwhile, Machong Chismisan has since issued a public apology to Kris and her family, expressing remorse for the now-deleted episode and acknowledging that their remarks were “inexcusable, deeply insensitive, and hurtful.”
