The Pod Network has officially cut its ties with comedy podcast Machong Chismisan following its hosts’ controversial remarks about Kris Aquino’s son, Josh, in a now-deleted episode.
The Pod Network announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14, that it had terminated its contract with Machong Chismisan and would remove the podcast from its network “effective immediately”.
“We have formally terminated our contract with the Machong Chismisan podcast, and are consequently removing the show from the network, effective immediately,” the network said in a Facebook post.
The announcement comes after the podcast received strong backlash over its episode titled “Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino,” where podcast host Tito P, also known as Tito Patrioto, called Josh “walang kwenta” and compared him to his younger brother, Bimby.
“Si Bimby, sobrang okay na anak. Si Josh, walang kuwenta, e,” Tito P remarked about Josh, who is on the autism spectrum, drawing laughter from his co-hosts.
Another host, RJ Carbonell, also mocked Josh over allegedly receiving a daily school allowance of P3,000.
“’Di ba ‘yung baon daw ni Josh araw-araw sa school P3000 a day? Tapos nakatunganga siyang gano’n?” Carbonell said.
The remarks drew widespread criticism from netizens and people close to Kris, including Boy Abunda, Michael Leyva, and Mark Leviste. The Autism Society Philippines also called out the hosts over their comments.
As of writing, the Aquino family has yet to publicly address the controversy.
