Prime crime drama “The Silent Noise” made history after winning “Best Asian Content” at the 2026 Korea International Streaming Festival OTT Awards, marking the Philippines’ first-ever victory at the international event.

Lead actress Angelica Panganiban and director Onat Diaz attended the awards ceremony held in Busan, South Korea, on Saturday, June 20, where they accepted the historic honor on behalf of the production.

The series triumphed over several acclaimed productions from across Asia, including Chinese dramas “Pursuit of Jade” and “Shine on Me,” Thailand’s “The Believers,” Taiwan’s “City Founding Pioneer,” and Japan’s “Hirayasumi.”

In his acceptance speech, Diaz emphasized the significance of the award for Filipino storytellers and creators.

“Winning this award will be very meaningful and encouraging for our team in the Philippines because it reaffirms our belief of fearlessly telling our stories with much passion, and creating genuine interactions with our audiences that will cut across borders in different territories,” he said.

The victory marked not only the first win for the Philippines at the Global OTT Awards but also the first time a Filipino production claimed the “Best Asian Content” title.

Apart from the series’ feat, Panganiban also received international recognition after earning a nomination in the “Best Lead Actor (Female)” category.

She competed against Tian Xiwei of “Pursuit of Jade,” Ko Shibasaki of “Scandal Eve,” Park Bo-young of “Gold Land,” Kim Yoo-jung of “Dear X,” and Shin Hae-sun of “The Art of Sarah.” The acting award was bagged by Shin Hae-sun.

A collaboration between ABS-CBN Studios and Prime Video, “The Silent Noise” follows the story of a deaf boy struggling to cope with the death of his favorite teacher while his family becomes entangled in the mystery surrounding the case in their small town.

Joining Panganiban in the cast are Zanjoe Marudo, Mylene Dizon, Zaijian Jaranilla, Mutya Orquia, and child actor KD Omalin.
