Senate honors BINI for ‘historic’ Coachella 2026 performance

P-pop powerhouse BINI has been officially commended by the Senate of the Philippines for their historic stint at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, recognizing the group’s contribution to bringing pride and honor to the country.

All eight members of the group attended the Senate plenary session on Wednesday, May 6, where they were warmly welcomed and awarded Senate Resolution No. 370 in recognition of their historic performance at one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

The Senate, led by Vicente C. Sotto III, unanimously approved the resolution authored by Sen. Bam Aquino, citing BINI for “bringing pride and honor to the Philippines” through their showcase of Filipino talent on the international stage.

“BINI’s achievement serves as an inspiration to young Filipinos, demonstrating that Filipino talent can thrive and gain recognition on the world stage,” the resolution stated, as shared in a Facebook post by the Senate of the Philippines.

In his sponsorship speech, Aquino praised the octet for elevating Filipino music and artistry worldwide.

“Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, isang Filipino group ang nagtanghal sa isa sa pinakamalaki at pinakasikat na music festivals sa buong mundo. Masasabi natin na ang tagumpay na ito ay isang ‘Salamin’ ng galing at talento ng Pilipino sa pandaigdigang entablado,” he said.

“Ang tagumpay ng BINI ay isang panalong dapat ipagdiwang sa gitna ng mga hamon at krisis na kinakaharap ng ating bansa.”

BINI made history as the first-ever Filipino act to perform at Coachella, taking the stage during the festival’s two-weekend run on April 10 and 17 at the Mojave Stage in Indio. During their set, the group performed some of their biggest hits, including “Pantropiko”, “Cherry on Top”, “Karera”, and “Salamin”.

Following the recognition, BINI expressed their gratitude in a Facebook post.

“What once felt like a dream became a moment we now proudly share with our fellow kababayans! Thank you for honoring us through Senate Resolution No. 370 and for celebrating Filipino talent on the global stage. Mabuhay ang OPM!” the group wrote.

Prior to the Senate recognition, BINI also achieved another milestone after receiving the Global Force Award at the Billboard Women in Music 2026, becoming the second Filipino act to receive the honor after Sarah Geronimo.

The group is next set to embark on their highly anticipated “Signals” world tour, which will kick off in Pasay on June 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena, followed by a show at the Seaside Cebu Arena on July 11.

BINI will also bring their concert tour to international stops across the United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, France, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United States, with additional details yet to be announced.

The octet is likewise set to represent P-pop on another major international platform as they, alongside fellow P-pop powerhouse SB19, become the first Filipino artists to join the lineup of Japan’s annual music festival Summer Sonic this August.

SB19 is scheduled to perform on August 15 at the Tokyo leg of the festival, while BINI will take the stage in Osaka on August 14 and in Tokyo on August 16.
