After Bruno Mars, Blackpink’s Rosé has teamed up with another talented half-Pinoy artist!
The South Korean superstar just released the music video for her new single “toxic till the end,” which stars none other than Filipino-Hawaiian actor and model Evan Mock.
In the music video, Evan, who portrayed Rosè’s toxic partner, showcased his skateboarding skills and even shared a kiss with the Blackpink member.
Evan is known for starring in the Gossip Girl reboot, marking his debut as an actor.
Back in a 2021 interview with The Philippine STAR, Mock proudly talked about his Filipino heritage.
“My mom has been there [Philippines] a bunch of times. I haven’t been able to make it over there, but I need to get there as soon as possible. But half-Filipino thing right here,” he told the paper.
The 27-year-old shared that his maternal great-grandparents immigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii to work in the sugarcane fields.
“Back in the day, Hawaii used to be the biggest distributor for pure cane sugar. So, there were a lot of people, you know, coming over to work from the Philippines until it became cheaper in other places,” related Evan.
While he has yet to visit the country, Evan also mentioned the things that come to mind when he thinks about the Filipino culture.
“I think about the food instantly. I think about, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, chicken fighting (cockfighting). And that’s carried on into Hawaiian culture as well. It’s just been a thing that I’ve grown up around, you know, my whole life,” shared Evan.
“Toxic till the end,” which depicts the highs and lows of Rosé’s relationship with a toxic partner, is a single off Rosé’s first full-length album “rosie.”
“Rosie” also features Rosé’s massive hit song “APT.” with Filipino-American Bruno Mars, and other tracks “Number One Girl,” “3AM,” “Two Years,” “Drinks or Coffee,” “Gameboy,” “Stay a Little Longer,” “Not the Same,” “Call It the End,” “Too Bad for Us” and “Dance All Night.”
