Uploader Kris Angela Reaño Solis, 34, who is based in UAE shared a heartwarming moment with her father last March 2024.
“I’m 34 years old. Happily married and a mom already. here’s my Papa who came to pick up his “Princess” in the metro coz it’s drizzling, and I had no umbrella. Father’s love,” Kris wrote in the now-viral TikTok video which has garnered more than 600,000 views.
Netizens were quick to share their respective memories with their fathers.
“Awww..you making me miss my Dad in Heaven.💔😭💔 he was always the one who been there for me even am all grown woman. Enjoy your time with him while you can. You’re so lucky to still have him. Hugs!” a netizen commented.
“My late Papa also picks me up and drops [me] sa terminal nung nag school ako sa city ‘til nag work. I hope he is still alive so I can pay him back. I miss him,” another said.
Recalling the moment, Kris said that she was touched on the simple act of service of her father.
“Pagdating po dito sa Dubai hindi naman po madalas umuulan, so very seldom talagang magdala ako ng payong. That time, umaambon po. Tapos nagulat ako, si papa, nandun siya sa metro train station dito,” she said.
Adding, “May dalang payong, nag-aantay sa‘kin. Kasi alam naman niya ‘yung oras ng uwi ko. Fixed lagi. May idea siya na, “Ganitong oras darating ‘yung anak ko, so dapat bago siya dumating nandun na ako.” May asawa’t anak na ako pero si papa kahit may asawa na ako,34 na ako, matanda na ako, ‘yung tingin niya sa amin, ‘yung treatment niya parang baby pa rin kami.”
Tatay Alejandro noted that even if his daughter is already old and capable, he wanted to continue taking care of her.
“‘Di nagbabago ‘yun. Kasi ‘yung mga magulang laging naghihintay ‘yan, eh. Matutulog ‘yan ‘pag alam nang nasa loob na. Pero hangga’t wala, hindi kami makatulog, hindi mapayapa.‘Yung buhay namin, nakalatag sa mga anak namin ‘tsaka sa apo namin,” he shared.
Kris left the Philippines to work in abroad in 2014 hoping to provide a better life for her family in the province. Tatay Alejandro used to be a fisherman to make ends meet for his wife and two children.
“In [the] Philippines, simple lang ang buhay namin. Pinagsikapan nila kahit mahirap. They did their best, lalo na si papa. Lahat ng klase ng pwede niyang trabaho na pwede niyang pasukin, gagawin niya para lang ma-provide ‘yung needs ng family. Pinalaki kami ni mama’t papa na close family ties talaga. Wala kang ibang pwedeng asahan kung hindi ‘yung family lang talaga so you have to support each other,” Kris said.
“‘Yung younger brother ko is nag-aaral ng college. Ako ‘yung nagpapaaral sa kanyaSabi ko, “Hindi kaya nung sahod ko, plus ‘yung sa family pa. Parang I need to step up.” Kahit back to zero, anything, I will start again. Okay lang. Sabi ko that time, two years lang, one year contract lang,” she added.
Even if it was hard for the whole family for Kris to leave their hometown, Tatay Alejandro gave his all-out support.
“Alam kong kaya niya. Maliit pa ‘yan, tini-train ko na agad ‘yan na, “Walang bagay na hindi mo kaya kahit babae ka.”Pinu-push ko siya.Kaya nung sabi niya sa‘king mag-a-abroad siya, “Sige, nandito lang kami, suporta sa‘yo,” he noted.
Kris worked hard in Dubai for years just to provide a comfortable life for her family— and her hard work finally paid off.
Her parents finally visited her in 2018.
“Laging sinasabi ni papa, nung nagtatrabaho siya sa dagat, lagi niya lang tinitingnan ‘yung eroplano sa taas. Never niyang naisip or na-imagine na balang araw pala makakasakay din siya ng eroplano, makakalabas siya ng Pilipinas,” she said.
Kris also built her own family in Dubai and luckily, she was able to bring her parents abroad. She promised to make their life more comfortable and create more memories together.
“Thankful ako at siya ‘yung papa ko. Wala ako sa mundong ‘to, wala ako kung nasaan ako kung hindi dahil sa kanya. Hindi man sila perpekto, but at least they did their best to be the best parent that they could be para sa amin. Kung magre-rewind ‘yung buhay ko, syempre si papa at si papa pa rin.Thank you, pa. I love you so much,” Kris said when asked about her message to her father.
