TV host Willie Revillame had something to say about GMA Network and its show “Family Feud” during the first episode of his new show “Wil To Win” on TV5.
The premiere of his show coincided with the airing of an episode of “Family Feud” featuring his daughter Meryll Soriano and her aunt Maricel Soriano.
In the July 15 episode of “Wil To Win,” Willie remarked, “Ang nakakatuwa ho, noong nag live ako kahapon [July 15], ‘yung anak ko, [at] si Ms. Maricel, at ‘yung aking mga ano, tinapat pa sa programa ko.”
He continued, “Ano ‘to, labanan ba ‘to? Hindi, tulungan nating mga kababayan nating naghihirap.”
Revillame also made a statement that seemed directed at “Family Feud,” saying, “Ang importante, ang show na ito [ay] original, iniisip ko para sa inyo, hindi ito binibili sa ibang bansa, ito po ay habang buhay.”
He emphasized, “Saka hindi kami naka-tape, naka-live kami.”
These comments appeared to refer to “Family Feud,” which is based on the American television show and is pre-recorded.
Furthermore, Willie clarified that he doesn’t care about ratings, stating, “Para sa akin, ang ratings kayo [pointing at the audience].”
He added, “Kung may nakikita kayong pinapakita nila ang ratings nila, na mataas sila, hindi ho kami naapektuhan, kasi ang puso namin ay magbigay ng saya at pag-asa sa inyo.”
These remarks came after the release of NUTAM People Ratings (Nielsen Phils TAM) on July 15, which showed “Family Feud” garnered a rating of 9.6%, while “Wil To Win” only received 2.7%. However, TV5 noted that “Wil To Win” had the highest rating performance for its 5:00 to 6:30 PM block in 2024.
“Wil To Win” marks Willie’s return to TV5, eleven years after he hosted “Willing Willie,” “Wil Time Bigtime,” and “Wowowillie” from October 2010 to October 2013.
