Miles Ocampo remained unaffected by Joey de Leon’s “controversial” joke about her weight.
The incident occurred during the noontime program Eat Bulaga’s “Peraphy Pataas o Pababa” segment where Joey made a joke towards Miles during her birthday celebration, which did not sit well with netizens.
One of the hosts, Tito Sotto, was extending birthday wishes to the actress-host during the celebration of her 27th birthday on the program’s May 1 episode.
“Wala akong masasabi kundi pataas! Pataas ‘yong edad eh!” remarked the former Senate president, eliciting laughter and playful banter from their audiance and other EB co-hosts.
However, the mood seemingly shifted when Joey interjected with a remark that some found inappropriate.
“Pataba… ay, pababa…” he quipped, to a noticeable lack of laughter or acknowledgment from the other hosts.
In a report by Pilipino Star Ngayon, Miles addressed the past controversy by explaining the nature of the humor among Dabarkads hosts, while also acknowledging the sensitivity of today’s audience.
“Sa Dabarkads, bawal ang pikon. Sanay lang sa mga bawat banat at hirit ng isa’t isa, so walang problema po,” she said.
Miles explained that Joey was also affected by the public’s reaction.
She further clarified that there were no ill feelings between them as the veteran host had already apologized to her after the incident.
