Late March, Sylvia Sanchez and her husband Art Atayde tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). After weeks of battling the illness, the couple finally recovered from the virus last April 9.

For her 49th birthday, Sylvia celebrated her “second shot at life” at home, surrounded by her family.

In an Instagram post, she shared how blessed she is to celebrate her life last May 19.

Her post read: “So grateful I was still blessed enough to celebrate my life today. Although the situation we are in isn’t ideal, I know that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Just have faith. Thank you to everyone who sent their love and light towards me today. Though these trying times, I wish all of you safety and good health. Happy Quarantine birthday to me!”

The veteran actress was surprised by her family with their own pyjama party. Included in her post are photos and clips of how she spent her special day.

Her daughter Ria Atayde also took to Instagram to greet her mother a happy birthday.

“May your second shot at life be even more colourful (but less stressful than your first),” she wished for her mom.
