Dingdong Dantes spent his Valentine’s Day a little different this year.
The Kapuso star shared on social media that he worked as a delivery rider for his courier and delivery app, DingDongPH.
“I finished six deliveries this Valentine’s Day. But on an average, delivery riders accomplish around 8-10 transactions on good days like this one,” he wrote.
He continued on to share his sentiments after a long day’s work, realizing how hard delivery riders have to work to fulfill their duties even under stressful conditions.
“I started at 9:30 a.m. and ended before 3 p.m., and as I sit here at home waiting for early dinner, I realize how difficult this job is.
“There are so many factors to consider: heat, dehydration, heavy traffic, wrong addresses — which can cause panic and delays, customer’s temperament, plus the danger of getting into accidents especially if you have not been properly trained,” he wrote.
Despite all these, Dingdong said delivery riders still try their best to wear a smile and make everything look bearable as they complete the job.
“Kaya hanga talaga ako sa lahat (across the board) ng delivery riders na araw-araw ay tapat at magalang na naglilingkod at tumutulong sa pag-arangkada ng ekonomiya sa bansa,” he said.
For these reasons, the actor said he will tirelessly continue to work on professionalizing this industry.
Back in June 2020, Dingdong revealed that he has plans of launching his own courier and delivery app that aims to employ entertainment industry workers who were displaced by the pandemic.
Photos of him spotted on the road for a delivery run even went viral last December.
