Roxanne Baeyens of Baguio City was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2020 in the pageant’s first-ever online competition on July 5.
“My dear Baguio City, I feel deeply honored and grateful to carry your name. My heart will always showcase how proud I am as an Igorota,” the Filipino-Belgian beauty wrote in her first Instagram post as a titleholder.
Roxanne or Roxie said that despite being away from her family during her journey to the crown, the situation pushed her to be grateful for what she has.
“When I feel discouraged, I just remind myself how lucky I am that I’m healthy to compete; that I’m given a great platform to reach out to others, and that I’m blessed with the most angelic hearts helping me even from a distance,” she wrote.
She then continued to thank those who were behind her during her Miss Philippines Earth journey.
“Thank you to my family and friends who believe in me and always make me feel like a winner in their eyes,” she said.
In her winning eco-video, she shared that her curiosity for nature turned into a responsibility to make a change.
Inspired by her environmentalist mom, Roxie entered the pageant as an advocate of urban gardening.
“All homes should have more life than just human beings,” she shared.
The 23-year-old will represent the country in the 2020 Miss Earth pageant in December. She’s also a talent of Cornerstone Entertainment, the talent management agency of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
