Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati have announced today their decision to postpone their March 14 wedding so as not “to put anyone at risk” amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the country.
Here’s their full statement:
“As much as we want to celebrate our love with our family and friends, in light of the recent situation we have decided to postpone our wedding as we do not want to put anyone at risk.
“Thank you so much to those who flew in and to everyone who worked so hard for our special day. We only wish good health for everyone and we hope to celebrate with you as soon as things get better. Much love, Richard & Sarah.”
Earlier today, Richard’s mom Annabelle Rama told The STAR that the wedding was pushing through as scheduled.
The grand nuptials, which is being dubbed in the press as wedding of the decade, boast of a high-profile list of principal sponsors, including three Philippine presidents — President Duterte and former presidents Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Joseph “Erap” Estrada.
On Wednesday night, however, it was reported that Duterte will be having himself tested for COVID-19, after some Cabinet members said that they will undergo self-quarantine after having interacted with individuals who tested positive for the disease.
