Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez explain wanting a ‘private, normal childhood’ for daughter Maria

Celebrity couple Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez are drawing a firm line between their public lives and parenthood for their daughter, Maria.

In their interview with the press at the recent launch of Salvador’s new body care line, Majeskin, the actress made it clear that they will not be revealing their baby’s face or identity to the public anytime soon — and possibly never.

Maja explained their decision to keep their first child away from the spotlight and social media, citing real-life experiences of fellow parents they know of.

“We have friends na ang kuwento is hindi nila alam kung paano mag-react. Kasi, minsan, ‘yung nakyutan sa anak nila, kukurutin, e. Hindi mo ma-explain ‘yun sa mga bata na parang, ‘Sino sila?’” she shared as quoted by ABS-CBN News in its report.

Salvador added that the constant public attention can become intrusive, especially for children who aren’t old enough to understand why they’re being recognized.

“Kung naumpisahan mo nang i-post siya, parang mangyayari talaga ‘yun, e. Hilahin ‘yung bata, magpa-picture, pisilin ‘yung pisngi. [Kids] don’t have any idea bakit sila ginaganun na kilala pala sila. Iyon ‘yung iniiwasan namin. Because hindi ko rin alam mag-react na parang, ‘Ay, bawal po.’ And then, ‘Bakit bawal, e, pino-post niyo siya?'”

Maja revealed that some brands and companies have offered to collaborate with their baby — even going as far as to ask them to name their price, which the couple have all declined.

“Even may mga brands na gusto na kahit ‘name your price,’ sabi ko, ‘hindi talaga,’” she reiterated their decision.

Rambo echoed the same sentiment, sharing that their goal is to let their daughter live a private and normal childhood.

“There’s a lot of people na ang mata nasa atin, o nasa mga individual na nasa entertainment industry. Kami, isa sa reasons namin for the kid talaga, for our baby, is for her to enjoy ‘yung buhay niya, na habang lumalaki, na hindi siya kilala,” he said.

Nuñez added they want her to enjoy simple moments — like going to the park or mall — without being disturbed.

“Kung iwan namin siya sa mall, puwede siya sa park, hindi siya istorbohin ng mga tao. I mean, it’s not like na hindi namin na-appreciate ‘yun, but siyempre wala pang malay, di ba? Na, parang naglalaro, tapos baka istorbohin because kilalang-kilala na siya, mga ganun. ‘Yung mga ganoong instances na, feeling namin, it’s important sa development nung bata na ma-realize niya ‘yung may freedom siya, ‘di ba?

“Kumbaga, ma-discover niya kung sino siya individually, not because anak siya ni Maja. And ‘yun nga, as much as possible, at least may freedom lang siya na gawin ‘yung mga ginagawa ng mga normal na mga bata,” explained Rambo.

Previously, Maja opened up about her life as a first-time mom and plans for their second baby in an exclusive interview with The Philippine STAR/LatestChika.com at the launch event of her comeback show, “Emojination” Season 5.
