A brief sound glitch during the live broadcast of 24 Oras on Monday night has gone viral after a reporter’s voice unexpectedly shifted to a high-pitched tone during a serious news segment.
The segment in question involved news anchor Vicky Morales reporting on a death incident involving a senior citizen during the 2025 midterm elections. Morales then passed the report to field correspondent Jasmin Gabriel-Galban, who was reporting live from Dagupan, Pangasinan.
Just as Galban began her report, an apparent technical error distorted her voice into a comically high pitch, surprising viewers and prompting an abrupt switch back to Morales in the studio. The anchor, maintaining her composure, acknowledged the glitch before continuing the newscast.
Despite the serious nature of the news, the clip quickly circulated on social media, where many users shared humorous reactions to the unexpected voice change.
One user joked, “Jasmin and the Chipmunks,” referencing the popular cartoon characters, while another wrote, “‘Yung seryoso ka manood tapos biglang ganun—HAHAHAHHAHAHA!”
Others, however, offered a more reflective take, noting the awkwardness of mixing comedy and tragedy.
“Kung kailan masyadong seryoso ang balita, nakakagulat ang pag-report. Hindi ko alam kung matatawa ako o ano,” one commenter wrote.
Some users came to the defense of the live production, pointing out that technical issues are a common challenge in real-time broadcasts.
“It happens naman talaga during live. Si Mike E. nga napapa-ubo pa unintentionally,” a viewer commented. “So I wonder why some people are treating this like it’s something new.”
As of writing, the viral clip has been removed from the uploaded livestream on GMA Integrated News’ YouTube channel.
