The heartwarming South Korean drama film “Picnic” is set to make its way to Philippine cinemas this May with a special Filipino-dubbed version, featuring a powerhouse local cast.

Lotte Entertainment’s 2024 film will be brought to life in Tagalog with voice performances from veteran actresses Nova Villa and Ces Quesada, along with renowned children’s television host Bodjie Pascua. Joining them are Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Generation 11 housemate JM Ibarra and Big Winner Fyang Smith.

On Instagram, Quesada described the film as “heart-warming” and highlighted its themes of “friendship” and “growing old together”. She and Villa will take on the roles of best friends navigating the challenges of their “twilight years”.

The original Korean version stars award-winning actress Na Moon-hee, industry icon Kim Young-ok, and veteran actor Park Geun-hyung. The film follows the story of Eun Sim (Moon-hee), who, at the age of 80, returns to her hometown after more than six decades. There, she reunites with her old friends Geum Soon (Young-ok) and Tae Ho (Geun-hyung), rekindling their bond while facing the realities of aging.

Distributed by Nathan Studios, Picnic is set to premiere in cinemas nationwide this May.
