The “Queen of Bangsamoro Pop”, Shaira Moro, has revealed that her hit song “Selos” will soon make its comeback on streaming platforms following an agreement reached between her team and the camp of its original singer Lenka.
A video statement shared on Shaira’s official Facebook page released an update a month after the viral hit faced copyright issues for using the same melody from the Aussie singer-songwriter Lenka’s’ 2008 song, “Trouble is a Friend”.
This led to the parody song being dropped from music streaming platforms.
Following this, the Mindanao-based singer clarified in her latest statement that there were no charges filed against her and her talent agency, AHS Productions, after discussing the issue in an “amicable” and “peaceful” manner.
“Wala pong kaso na isinampa laban sa amin. Sa katunayan, naging mahinahon at mapayapa ang pag-uusap namin ng kaso ni Lenka at nauwi po ito sa pagkakaroon ng kasunduan,” Shaira stated in the video.
The Moro singer expressed her hope for her listeners and fellow Bangsamoro artists to find happiness in this resolution.
“Sana po ngayon ay maging masaya na lang po tayo dahil hindi lang naman po ito para sa akin, para din po ito sa mga kapwa kong Bangsamoro artists at sa mga kapwa kong Pilipino,” she said.
Aside from Lenka, Shaira also faced accusations of plagiarizing two more of her songs, “Forever Single (Walang Jowa)” and “Pakboy” to tracks by Indonesian artists Papinka and Siti Badriah, respectively.
On the other hand, Shaira previously released the music video of her track, “Selos Na Yan Friend”, last Friday, April 5.
