Nagbigay ng dating advice ang aktor na si Derek Ramsay sa kanyang interview kay Toni Gonzaga sa vlog nito na “Toni Talks.”
Ito ay matapos ma-bring up ni Toni ang pagse-settle down ni Derek sa partner nito na si Ellen Adarna.
“Kaya ang advice ko nga sa mga bata is get married when you’re in your 40s. Sa babae, I would say early 30s para magka-baby pa if you wanna have a baby. But for a guy, tapusin mo lahat ng gusto mong gawin, make sure may direksyon na buhay mo, so that ma-enjoy mo ang marriage,” payo ni Derek.
Ayon sa kanya, nararapat umanong maging “stable” muna ang isang lalaki bago ito tuluyang pumasok sa married life.
“Because it’s hard when you jump into a marriage na you’re still looking for food to feed yourself and then now you’re responsible for another individual. And then you go through those hard times which I’m not saying is impossible, but it can make or break you,” dagdag niya.
Ani pa ng aktor, dapat magkaroon din muna ang isang indibidwal ng “strong foundation.”
“In most cases, in today’s society, it breaks couples, right? There’s so much temptation. So for me, you need to be really stable eh. Kumbaga setting a strong foundation,” saad pa nito.
“If you’re 40 and you have no direction, then you have no right to get married. Because mag-aalaga ka pa ng isa pang tao or vice versa. So for me, the best advice talaga, 40s, you have direction, sana naman stable ka na sa income mo, may naipon ka na,” pagpapatuloy pa ng aktor.
Derek on marrying Ellen
Sa naturang interview ay natanong din ni Toni si Derek patungkol sa pagpo-propose nito sa kanyang partner na si Ellen.
“Kailan mo nalaman na ‘this is the one?’” tanong ni Toni.
“I guess we had the talk about marriage and how, yun nga, like I said na it’s not really important for us. And the next day, I’m like ‘Oh my God.’ Usually you talk about marriage and my brain will be like freaking out. Scared like ‘Oh my God.’ Then I’d put up a wall,” sey ni Derek.
“But with her, I’m comfortable with this. Even though ang sinabi ko, is ‘okay na ko, kuntento na kong di magpakasal.’ And then I told her, ‘I’m gonna marry you’,” wika niya.
“It’s the best decision I’ve made in my life. Like, I’m really enjoying marriage,” pagpapatuloy pa ng aktor.
Matatandaan na nagpakasal si Derek kay Ellen noong November 2021.
