The Philippine Red Cross has appointed Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as their new ambassador.
The organization’s chairman and CEO, Sen. Richard Gordon, said that the beauty queen is the perfect advocate to show the public that there is a “silver lining” amid the pandemic.
“She promotes the importance of getting tested for COVID-19, following health protocol, staying at home and donating blood. She will be working with the @philredcross in our campaign to achieve #VictoryOverVirus,” he wrote on Twitter.
On the official Facebook page of the Philippine Red Cross, they indicated that Catriona’s duties as an ambassador include spreading awareness and more knowledge on how to fight COVID-19.
“Welcome to the Red Cross family, Catriona Gray!” the post read.
Catriona said that she hopes to utilize her position to call for more blood donations.
“I hope I can utilize my platform as ambassador for Philippine Red Cross to call for blood donations, and really call for donations that will allow testing and services of the Philippine Red Cross to be accessible for every single Filipino,” she shared.
