Almost a week since announcing her bicycle giveaway, Gretchen Ho happily revealed who her first #DonateABikeSaveAJob recipient is.
The television host and athlete’s initiative aims to give away bicycles to those who are in need of a bike to support their livelihoods.
“Because a bike can spell the difference between keeping a livelihood or not,” she said.
Her giveaway only requires participants to justify why they are deserving of a bicycle and to send proof once her team contacts them.
On Thursday, Gretchen revealed that her first recipient is 18-year-old Kean Arcilla Ramos from Muntinlupa, a delivery rider who went viral after he was captured rollerblading to work.
“Nagkasakit kasi si tatay kaya siya na lang daw maghanapbuhay. Eh wala pa siyang lisensya! Kaya nagrollerblades para sa coffee jelly business niya,” she explained.
A day before revealing the first bike recipient, she shared a video of Kean in action with his rollerblades.
“Mukhang nangangailangan si Kean ng bisikleta,” she said.
The volleyball star was supposed to give away only 50 bicycles but since opening her project to the public, she said she has already collected a pledge of 116 bikes and more.
