16-day-old ‘Baby Kobe’ is youngest COVID-19 survivor

-

Kobe, a 16-day-old baby, is the country’s youngest patient to survive and recover from COVID-19.

Baby Kobe got discharged from the National Children’s Hospital last Tuesday.

The Department of Health shared the good news on their socials on Thursday, paying tribute to the healthcare workers who took care of Kobe.

“Our frontliners at the National Children’s Hospital tirelessly took care of the neonate for 11 days and successfully nursed him back to health,” said DOH.

“The DOH applauds our valiant healthcare team for this feat! We at the DOH commit to provide the needed health commodities and personal protective equipment as our health facilities accept patients of various ages. ?‍⚕️?‍⚕️…,” it added.

Meanwhile, an ABS-CBN report said that Kobe’s father Ronnel Manjares, who lost his job as a construction worker due to the implemented lockdown, appealed for help as he could not provide for his family.

“Walang-wala talaga. Nakikitira lang po ako dito,” Manjares was quoted as saying in the interview.

He added, “Sana mayroong tumulong sa aking pamilya. Para sobrang hirap po talaga. Walang makunan ng panggastos namin sa pang-araw-araw ngayon,”
