Rising P-pop boy group 6ENSE returns with “Muni-Muni” (under Sony Music Philippines), a dreamy City Pop-inspired track that captures the sweet thrill of having a crush, even when it’s one-sided.
But beneath its nostalgic charm, the single’s music video delivers a daring message about obsession, fame, and abuse of power.
Produced by Ken Ponce and written by Wiji, the group’s leader, Muni-Muni completes 6ENSE’s three-part love trilogy, following Amin Amin and Para Sa Iyo. This time, the group explores the joy of admiring someone from afar: “Mas masarap magkacrush kapag walang chance,” they sing, a line that has quickly resonated with fans.
The music video takes the song’s innocent tone and flips it into a dark reflection on how admiration can turn into obsession. In a bold twist, 6ENSE portray the antagonists themselves, symbolizing how power and fame can distort perception and accountability.
“On the surface, it’s a song about crushes,” says Wiji. “But we wanted to show how admiration can blur into obsession, and how power can be abused.”
Musically, Muni-Muni channels late-90s and early-2000s boy group nostalgia; think Backstreet Boys, Westlife, H.O.T., F4, and local icons Maskulados, while keeping its sound fresh for today’s listeners.
As a self-produced, self-managed act under N.EXT Entertainment, 6ENSE continue to redefine what independent P-pop can achieve: melding pop sensibility with sharp social insight. With Muni-Muni, the group cements their reputation as storytellers unafraid to mix lighthearted themes with deeper cultural commentary.
Muni-Muni by 6ENSE is now streaming on all major platforms.
