Broadway icon Lea Salonga recently released her new song Dream Again to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts around the world, including the non-profit organization The Actors Fund.
The Actors Fund provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals.
Lea debuted the track on her Instagram page with a video of her performing the single as photos of her followers holding up sheets of papers with activities they would like to do again once the pandemic is over flashed on the screen.
In a past Instagram post, she called on her followers to help her with her project.
“Snap a photo of yourself, like this, and tell me what you’re dreaming about doing again once social distancing and self-isolation are safely in our rear view mirrors,” she said.
In a report by the US entertainment website HollywoodLife, Lea said her new song encourages the public to continue to dream and look forward to their plans and hopes after the pandemic.
“There was this idea that once all physical distancing was done, that we may be able to focus on getting things back to normal and aspire and dream for those things to happen in our lives again after being holed up for so long,” she said.
Her chosen charity organization thanked her for lending her voice to their cause.
“We’re so grateful to #LeaSalonga for sharing her beautiful voice & generosity with us,” they said in a social media post.
