On her birthday, comedian K Brosas helped her daughter Crystal come out as a lesbian in an emotional Instagram video.
“Tinanong ko siya ngayong birthday ko, biglaan, sabi ko ‘Anak, gusto mo mag out?’ Umiyak siya, sabi niya oo,” she said in their video.
She affirmed that her daughter’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with her love for her. “Kung anak mo yan, unconditional yan. I’m very proud sa anak ko,” she said.
K said even before her daughter came out to her, she already knew that Crystal was a lesbian when she was in high school.
“I’m gay, yes. Now, out and proud,” Crystal happily shared.
K, who turned emotional, assured that she asked Crystal if she really wanted to come out live on social media. She explained that doing this on social media might have its repercussions but it doesn’t matter, because she loves her daughter more.
“Maganda ang relationship namin, wala kaming tinatago. Tinago lang namin ito. Ito lang namin kasi sabi ko dapat may right time so ito yung birthday gift ko sa kanya,” she said.
She then asked her fellow parents who have LGBTQ children not to shun their kids.
“I’m 45 this year, yung anak ko turning 23 next month and ito yung gift ko sa kanya gusto niya mag out so nirerespeto ko yung at sinusuportahan ko yun. That’s it.”
The two ended their video hugging and expressing their love for each other.
