Philippine literature icon Lualhati Bautista slammed Senator Koko Pimentel for violating coronavirus quarantine protocols.
On Wednesday, the senator disclosed he was in the hospital with his pregnant wife Kathryna Yu-Pimentel when he received a call from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) to inform him of his COVID-19 positive test result.
Netizens were infuriated that Pimentel, who knew he was a person under investigation (PUI), did not follow proper quarantine guidelines.
Palanca awardee Bautista was one of the many FIlipinos who were outraged by Pimentel’s recklessness.
On her personal Facebook account, the novelist asked Pimentel to pray for himself.
“Koko Pimentel, ipagdasal mong mag-isa ang sarili mo! Hindi ka namin ipagdadasal!”
Makati Medical Center (MMC) also slammed Pimentel for breaching its infection and containment protocols for the virus. On Thursday, the Philippine Medical Association extended its support to MMC.
“He should have placed above all the well-being of the health workforce who are already working so hard to help curb the problem of the Covid-19 menace,” they said in a statement
The association also asked government officials to refrain from being treated as VIPs.
Membership shopping club S&R, confirmed that Pimentel was seen shopping at their branch in Bonifacio Global City last March 16, when he should have been self-isolating at that time.
