“The world will miss your light.”
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray expressed her disbelief over the passing of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst in a social media post she penned on Monday.
The 28-year-old shared an old snap of her and her fellow beauty queen both wearing white as they smiled for the camera.
“Ches.. I can’t believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light,” she wrote in the caption.
Catriona also encouraged her followers to reach out to their friends and loved ones, especially during these isolating times.
“Also, let’s reach out to friends and loves one. These continue to be isolating times, mental health is so important, let’s not downplay its importance in the lives of every individual,” she said.
On Cheslie’s last Instagram post, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach left a comment expressing her gratitude for the pageant queen.
“So sorry, Cheslie.. You were so kind. Thank you. You’re an inspiration & loved by so many. Rest in peace, Cheslie,” Pia wrote.
Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados has also shared a moment she had with Cheslie and the other queens from their Miss U batch.
“Woke up to the saddest news! I can’t believe I’ll never see you again @chesliekryst. You will be missed and the light you shone so bright. Heaven has gained another angel. Gone too soon,” she wrote in the caption.
The Miss Universe Organization has already released a statement as their community mourns the loss of “one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people”.
“Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thought are prayers are with her family during this difficult time,” their statement read.
Cheslie passed away at the age of 30. Police announced that she jumped from a Manhattan apartment building on Sunday, US time.
