Miss Universe-Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters paddled her way to rescue a man from drowning in the waters of Siruma, Camarines Sur.
A certain Christopher A Dionisio recently shared online actual photos of when the beauty queen, a surfing buff, saved the man identified as “Topheng” who was caught in a strong rip current.
The netizen narrated that Rachel did not hesitate to return and rescue Topheng even if she was already close to the shore and being stopped by people from going back into the water.
“Dehins sya nagduwang isip guys na magbalik sa lineup para sagipun c topheng dawa may nagpupurugul saiya, nasa pang pang na sya pahawas na sya,” wrote the netizen.
Earlier that day, Rachel’s adopted dog Milo passed away so she did a paddle for her fur baby, and the drowning coincidentally happened.
“I lost my little love this morning, but was in the right place at the right time to save a drowning surfer because I did a little paddle out for you,” shared Rachel on Instagram.
Rachel’s fiancé, Camarines Sur Governor Miguel Luiz “Migz” Villafuerte, on the other hand, took pride in her for braving the waves to help the drowning man.
“So proud of my girl @rachelpetersx for saving this guy’s life who got caught in a strong riptide earlier! very close call ??,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
He added, “The ocean is a whole different world and learning surfing the right way, with the right people is the best way to know the ocean! Sige na papayagan na kita mag-Siargao ng mag-Siargao pa more babe.”
