After receiving backlash from some netizens, Liza Soberano apologized and called on local internet service providers to treat their customers fairly.
The Kapamilya actress on Tuesday tweeted about having her internet fixed and a “no-lag” connection as provided by telecommunications company PLDT just two days after ranting on Twitter against another internet provider’s internet speed and customer service.
The post, however, prompted some netizens to air out their frustration at the seemingly “special treatment” internet service providers give to celebrities like Liza, while it would take them days or months to act on their regular customers’ internet connection problems.
After taking notice of the online furor, Liza in a tweet on Wednesday clarified that she did not mean to brag about having fast internet, and apologized to people who got offended with her tweet.
“I stumbled upon a few tweets from people who are upset and find my tweet about having fast internet offensive. I’m sorry your telecommunications provider isn’t taking care of your problems. In no way was it my intention to brag,” wrote Liza.
She added, “I was just genuinely relieved to finally have a fast internet. I know it’s a problem we are all struggling with now.”
She then urged all internet providers to do their best in providing better internet services to their customers “especially at a time like this when internet has become an essential.”
Liza also called on local internet service providers to treat their customers fairly.
“I could go on and on, but bottomline treat your customers fairly, no matter who they are. Cause people work hard to pay for their internet and most of our work is done online now. Okay that’s all on this internet fiasco. Bye.”
