On Thursday, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks announced on his Instagram that he and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” he wrote.
The Forrest Gump star assured that they have followed protocol from the medical officials in Australia.
“We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-time approach, no?”
The two are in Australia for an untitled Elvis Presley film. Tom is playing the role of Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
As of writing, the World Health Organization (WHO) has characterized COVID-19 as a pandemic. WHO defines a pandemic as a worldwide spread of a new disease.
