Maris Racal was overcome with emotion after bagging her first Best Actress trophy at the Gawad Urian, marking a significant milestone in her acting career.

The actress won for her portrayal in Sunshine, a teenage pregnancy drama directed by Antoinette Jadaone.
Reflecting on her achievement, the actress also paid tribute to her younger self in an Instagram post.
“Thank you, 26-year-old me, for giving it your all. I’m always and will always be inspired by you,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Tonet shared a clip of Maris visibly emotional as she was about to receive the prestigious recognition.
“MARIS HAS JUST WON HER FIRST URIAN!!!!!!!!!! OH WHAT A FEELING!!!!!” the director shared.
“Pinapangarap lang natin ito dati, tehhhhhhh!!! Pero hindi ako kailanman nagduda. SA’YO ITO,” she added.
In a previous interview, Maris shared that she spent more than a year preparing for the role, working to develop her physical abilities from the ground up. She also admitted that flexibility did not come naturally to her.
Meanwhile, Sunshine is set to take on a new form as the award-winning film heads to the stage through an immersive “choose-your-own-adventure” theater adaptation, allowing audiences to experience the story in a different way.
